Hoping some of you AE experts can shed some light on this...

I received some source project files and noticed that the shape of some of the keyframes looks like this: < >
The keyframe controls the size of a rectangle path.
At first I thought it was Easy Ease In/Out.
When I tried that, the shape of my keyframe looks like the curvy hour-glass shape, not < >.
So I'm not sure how or why these keyframes look this way and would love to learn more.

Thanks in advance.

Yup, those are the keyframes you get when you use Easy Ease in and out. If you make a keyframe between them, it'll be hourglass-shaped, indicative of an ease in and an ease out.

That's TEMPORAL keyframe interpolation... not spatial. Bezier temporal keyframe interpolation. You'll see what they do if you look at the propertyies with the Grtaph Editor.
