I am doing VFX on a film that is mostly computer screens. Composites as well as full cg monitor close ups. I want to add a moire effect, such as this one. I can't really figure out how to do that, as google searches just show me how to get rid of moire. I am also happy about any other ideas in creating a believable computer screen.

Thank you in advance.

DSLR's are notorious for moire patterns. The codec in which they record dooms it. So I must ask -- how was this shot?

Dave may not have understood your question- I think you were referring to adding moire to the monitors in your CG shots.
Monitors have a certain number of pixels and the moire is generated when the lines or details are smaller than the pixel in size. I would create a "pixel matte" (you can use CC Ball action on a solid to create a b&w image that can be use as a matte) to comp the images in the monitors - the trick is to have a large number of pixels. Add a slight glow and animate that to simulate flicker.
