I've been doing a lot of roto work within the same AE composition. It's 4k footage scaled down into a 2k composition.

I have 32GB of RAM, 4GB on graphics card, 3.5GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 3TB on fusion drive.

Everything has been decent but now everytime i go frame to frame it's very slow like a minute or so to show the image when editing the roto brush mask, etc.

Any tips on how i can speed anything up? I don't know much about the cache settings but is this something that should be emptied or deleted from time to time in preferences?

Purging is the best place to start in such situations. Go Edit>Purge>All Memory & Disk Caches.

No Joy after that? More troubleshooting may be needed.
