I cannot find a firm answer on this - is there a way to enable GPU Acceleration in AE CC 2015 with my AMD Radeon R9 M295X GPU? It appears to be a debate throughout the internet but no articles or tutorials claim to have a solution.

Additionally, can someone provide some information on OpenCL? Unfortunately, I cannot get a grip on OpenCL. Is this a framework for developing or is "downloadable". Apple support claimed to be unfamiliar with OpenCL, although their is a page on their developer site.

I am trying to fully utilize this maxed out iMac and could really use some info here.

Thanks in advanced.

Are you talking about the ray-tracing renderer? Then the answer is unequivocally no. The ray-tracing renderer introduced in CS6 is accelerated by CUDA on NVIDIA cards ONLY. Neither OpenCL nor AMD/ATI are relevant.

That's ok, though, because that ray-tracing renderer is being replaced:

The UI is accelerated through OpenGL, and just about any GPU will work.

Finally a definitive answer, thanks Walter.

When you say the UI is accelerated are you referring to the general AE user interface?

[Jesse Wekerle] "When you say the UI is accelerated are you referring to the general AE user interface?"

Yes. Ae uses OpenGL to draw some of the application's UI elements on-screen.
