I want to create a particle explosion transition similar to the video below (0:01 - 0:02).
How can I achieve this using AE CC.

Shatter effect-glass settings, increase the repetitions.

Shatter is easy once you learn the mechanics behind it, but there are quite a lot of little things to know, you might want to check out a tutorial on it.

Thank you for the reply John.

I think you might be talking about a different transition from the video? because the shatter effect which I tried, doesn't match the look I'm going for

To get the rose petals exploding out like that, you would need a plugin like Trapcode Particular or Element 3D (which is actually a pretty great particle generator). If you don't have these 3rd party plugins, you could probably use CC Particle World with a shaded sphere particle type to get a similar look.
