I have two questions.
1. When I make a 3D projected image, the image gets softer and loses detail. It there a way to avoid this?
2. Is there a way to feather the edges of the screens so when/if they move apart the shift isn't so obvious?
Thanks.

How much are you enlarging the original image by projecting it, do you think? You can't make it much bigger without seeing softness.

I don't think it's getting scaled up. Is it?

It could be; you may be relying on the projection for some foreground objects to which a camera is very close. If the image the AE camera sees goes beyond 100% of the source image's scale, it'll get soft.
