change the resolution of the solid layer to fit the mask?
on Nov 5, 2015 at 12:51:50 pm

So I have a solid layer 1280x720 and a small mask on it. I want to resize the solid layer in order to improve the rendering performance.

How I do it right now: I create a new solid layer (300x400), reposition it, copy - paste the mask and adjust it. Is there any way to speed up the process. (like "trimming" the solid layer to fit the mask).

What's so tough about just making another mask?

The masks are complex with a lot of point.

I`m looking for a faster solution since I have to change a lot of solids.

I'd just render out the masked solid as is with an alpha channel as a still, re-import and use it as an alpha matte. Done.

thanks, but that`s a lot of time.

I already have a faster solution as I said in the first post "How I do it right now: I create a new solid layer (300x400), reposition it, copy - paste the mask and adjust it. Is there any way to speed up the process."

I`m looking for a faster solution if there is.

If your primary goal is to make AE render faster, just leave things as they are. You aren't going to get AE to render much faster if you're just talking about static masks on solids.
