Hey all-

I need to be able to make a mask that is exactly the inside of a shape that is a fairly odd shape, but it is a still image and very high resolution.

Is there any plugin or expression that can create a mask in a similar way to the magic wand in Photoshop, or the RotoBrush in an animated thing?

The roto brush itself won't work for me because I need it to actually be a mask.

Thanks
Matt Chapman

I'd try using Autotrace on the weird shape -- if it's well-defined, you'll get one mask. Then double-click on the mask to bring up the Free Transform tool, and scale it down just a tiny bit.

Thanks that made a pretty nice mask. Is there any way to reduce the number of points it makes? Right now its a lot as it is a circular shape.

It's a CIRCLE? Just use AE's elliptal mask tool. Lots fewer mask vertices to deal with.
