I've searched online and can't find an answer. perhaps there isn't a way.
I would like to grab multiple layers in AE and just move them a predetermined number of frames backward or forward in the timeline. is there a shortcut in which i can grab the layers and move them by punching in a number"

thanks in advance

Well, sort of. Move the timeline cursor to the new point where you want the earliest-occurring clip to start. Shift-click on the desired clips. Shift-drag the clips -- they move in unison, and snap to the position of the timeline cursor.

I do this all the time. Works like a charm.

Alt+PageUp moves the selected layers 1 frame earlier; Alt+PageDown moves the selected layers 1 frame later.

Alt+Shift+PageUp moves the selected layers 10 frames earlier; Alt+Shift+PageDown moves the selected layers 10 frames later.
