Hi...
Thanks for reading this...appreciate so much

Would you look at this video?

Sample Video - Movie thru flowers

How does one do this?

I have a bunch of flowers on layers, one flower per layer, I want to have it look like this.

What exactly do I do to animate like this?

For example, I dont know even how to set it up...

First you make a very large scene? my view port is 1024 x 576, so i would make the scene bigger? then pull the scene / psd layers into ae and zoom in on it all? the animate the camera thru it slowly?

do i have to make sure the layers are nicely spaced in the top view?

What do you think?

Warmly,
Hope

You pretty much nailed the technique, that's exactly how you do it. If you google "kid stays in the picture" tutorial or 2.5d tutorial, you will find a lot of videos that go into this technique.

Hi John

Thank you so much for your reply.
the tutorials I found.....thanks to you, by searching

I am using cs5.5....so a little out of date....guess the new ae has more tools for 3D.

am working in 16.9 SD 1024x576px

Question:

Do you think I am doing this right?

This is the Right view. (realizing i may need to work in top view)

camera:
set: Point of Interest, Position and Zoom.

Camera layer only has keyframes: this is where 1st set of these keyframes are

This is where the 2nd ending set of these same parameters are set. had the camera triangle, the red, that far out, in order to make sure the last image went fully out of the frame.

I was a little worred that there are images off / out of the viewport...the white checkdered area.
what do you think?

I still need to add alot more pics.
one just makes precomps for each set of images like these 6? The sample video above must have about 100 layers they are touring the camera thru?

Any thots?
Thanks ever so much.

It sounds like you are going about this the correct way. Precomping could help, but it will add cause some issues where the precomp space won't equal the final comp space. You could work around that, but probably not worth the hassle.

The 3D tools in the CC version really wouldn't offer you much more than you have now for this particular project.
