When I upgraded to CC2015, my external monitor quit working just for After Effects. It still works for Premiere. The monitor is a broadcast monitor with video inputs, connected via a firewire converter device. Everything worked fine before the upgrade, but now only Premiere will display on the monitor.

Additional details - i7 PC running Windows 7. The preview settings in AE preferences are different than before, but set similarly in both AE and Premiere.

Ideas?

Thanks for the response. I tried trashing preferences, then tried that again plus purging all. Still won't display anything.

AE6 will display, Premiere Pro displays, just no AE CC2015. I am assuming some config error on my part, but I'v tried all the combinations of "always preview" and "primary viewer." Plus mercury transport in the preferences choices, where the only option is Adobe DV.

Other ideas?

Download the latest drivers and Mercury Transmit plug-ins for your device. While After Effects uses the same Mercury Transmit plug-ins as Premiere Pro, the plug-ins need to be updated for compatibility with After Effects.

AJA: The AJA Preview plug-in will conflict with Mercury Transmit for control of the monitor. Either disable Mercury Transmit (Preferences > Video Preview) or disable the AJA Preview plug-in (Window > AJA Preview).

Blackmagic Design: Blackmagic devices will not output compositions that do not match the device’s supported video modes. (ex. 720p59.94) Refer to the documentation for your Blackmagic device for a list of supported video modes.

The Full Screen option in the Preview panel is not compatible with Mercury Transmit. Disable it when using a monitor connected to your video card.

Chris,

Thanks for your response. The monitor is connected via firewire, but I have updated the drivers for the nVidia card anyway. Windows says the firewire driver is current. Still no video out for AE.

Poking around on Adobe forums shows I am not the only one having the problem, but it doesn't seem widespread.

I'll post whatever I find back here.

Jim
