I need to find a way to import 3D models into after effects. I know after effects comes with cinema 4D lite, but I have the full version of Maya and would rather use that. Does anyone know if
a: it's possible to import a 3D model into after effects from Maya
and if so
b: what file format works best.

Follow up question, once imported, will I still be able to manipulate the model? All I need it to do is rotate and change position...

You don't have to use C4D to make your model in order to use it. Cinema 4D Lite can be used to render your models in AE no matter where you made them. You can make your model in Maya, then export it as FBX, OBJ, and other formats, import those models in C4D Lite to render in AE.

If you have the Element 3d plugin for AE (from Video Copilot), it'll render a lot faster than C4D does.
