Is there a way to change the angle my trim path "grows" from? It seems as though the offset angle only allows me to change the direction around a circle? What I want is for this shape to "grow" from end to end, not around the circle it currently is.

The only way I can think of fixing this problem is by creating the shapes again from a single path and add a stroke, then keyframe the trim paths?

If i've explained this badly, i've provided some images to illustrate the problem further.

Trim Paths work better (creates more expected/intuitive results) with Stroke than Fills. So ... remove/disable Fill and enable Stroke and change the Stroke size to suit your needs.
