How to Shoot or Create video of rotating crystal 'award'
on Apr 4, 2015 at 5:57:05 pm

Hello there,

I have a award statue that I need to shoot. It needs to be rotating. I have found the rotating device, but I would like to know if there is a better way to film it or if I should try recreating the award in AE.

The issue is the award is clear, crystal looking. It has text on one side that needs to be read.

Here is a quick photo of what it looks like: http://www.ariashow.com/sample.html

I've been racking my brain and searching online....maybe I recreate the object in AE somehow?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Put it on a turntable, perfect the lighting and rotate it. To do it all on the computer, I think you would want to create it in C4D, & composite it in AE, but IMO that's a ton more work than just shooting it.

Thanks John. I left out a key piece of information...after it is shot, I need to key it over a motion background. What happened last time I did this is the 'shape' of the award would be hard to see, and the text was very hard to read. I shot it against black last time, so trying to key that out, etc...I think I ended up using Ultrakey in Premiere.

So, looking for other options that may yield better results.

Thanks for your reply.
