I am getting back into video editing and am going to be using After Effects much more than I previously did. I am used to editing on fcp so would prefer to go that route over premiere pro. I know with the software package it makes more sense to bundle premiere pro and after effects. Aside from that, does after effects work more fluidly with premiere pro than fcpx. If I am really going to get into after effects would my life be alot easier if I edited on premiere pro?

YES- Premiere Pro is the way to go. You can assign a similar workspace and even final cut shortcuts to make it all more familiar. As far as AE integration, it's by far the best solution.

I totally agree with Ted -- go with Premiere Pro.

You'll also gain the benefit of having actual video and audio tracks in your timeline, which is oh-so-easily lost in iMovie Pro.... um, FCPX.
