Put "Pre-Effect" on Footage?
on Feb 18, 2015 at 2:01:12 pm

Hi!

Im doing a Musicvideo and i got like 50 layers.
Now i want to adjust the color and wondered if it is possible to
somehow put the effect on the actual "FootageClip", so in sychronizes
with all those layers in my Comp?

The layers in my Composition are sorted randomly and with many masks,
so i cant organize it with an adjustment layer. Or are there any tricks to tell the adjustment layer exactly which clips to affect (even if they are more clips under it which shall not be affected by that adjustment layer)

otherwise i have to copy every color correction to the layers from the same record and repeat this procedure if i have to change the correction...

Thanks alot!
Cheers,
Pascal

[Pascal Brunner] "Now i want to adjust the color and wondered if it is possible to somehow put the effect on the actual "FootageClip", so in sychronizes with all those layers in my Comp?"

Right-click on "FootageClip" in the project panel and choose "Replace with Precomp."

This will create a new composition with your footage in it, and replace every instance of your footage throughout your entire project with that new comp. You can then apply whatever effects you like inside the precomp to achieve a global source-side effect.

I tried it but unfortunately it didnt work this way because you cant replace it with a Comp...

But i found a workaround.

I marked the Layers hold down the "ALT" Button und put the new Comp with the Clip on it.
This way it replaced the Layer by a Comp including the Clip :)
