Hi!

I created a bunch of masked layers with roto brush to use with newton plugin but the problem is that they are too complex. Is there a way to quickly lower the number of vertices on a allready existing mask? Lowering the polygons in newton doesnt help.

Thanks for any help!

How did you you use Rotobrush to make an AE mask?

Hi Dave,

I made a selection on a layer with the roto brush and then in the layer menu clicked the autotrace command.

Am i doing it wrong?

Autotrace makes a LOT of mask vertices, as you've discovered. You may need to make the masks by hand.

I hope the masked layers have square pixels. It will make your task easier: no pixel aspect ratios to worry about.

Please describe what you're trying to accomplish in Newton using the masks. We may be able to offer alternatives.

hi Dave

I managed to lower the vertice number by adjusting auto trace options and now it's working fine.

I'm using newton for various things. It's kind of hard to explain since it is a rather experimental animation film but basically it's to make drawings jump around and bounce in collision with other drawings. I previously made a test with shape layers and then planned the whole thing for newton so i don't see how i could find an alternative.

Anyway, now it's working so all is well:)

Thanks!

Spiro

I'm glad you got it to work.

But if you are dealing with simple geometric shapes, you may have had better luck creating masks in AE, then using the them in Newton.
