animated mask automatically adds opacity/transparency?!

I am not very experienced with After Effects so this might be just a small thing for you but a big problem for me! ;-)

So I am trying to make a little animation of a kitchen illustration. The stroke of the drawn kitchen appears by time and disappears again until a new stroke of another kitchen appears.

After animating the stroke with a mask and the Luma effect on a black solid the original image is becoming transparent, and the next stroke/mask even more transparent!

What is the problem there? The Mode is on 'Normal' so that can't be it...

Already, thanks a lot!

Can you post a screenshot of your After Effects UI showing the viewer panel as well as the timeline, with masks and their properties exposed?
