I am upgrading my pc to something close to a workstation. If i go with a core i7 six cores and 32 gigs RAM, is that suitable for after effects?? Or is a core i7 4 core enough??

The more cores the better. It will just make your life easier. 32gb ram is a good number. I personally would get an eight core. And makes a pretty good right core for about half the cost. Though I'm not sure the benchmark difference is between the two. I have yet to find an honest comparison between the two for after ever effects. I did find one for PhotoShop that showed the right core performed better though. The other side of the coin is the GHz it runs at. AMD has a 4.7 8 core that looks pretty stellar.
