Touching up a matte layer with the paint brush. Odd behavior.

I've done some solid research on this issue and have not been able to come to a solution.

I have an alpha matte layer that was given to me as a tiff image sequence.

I followed these steps: http://www.adobepress.com/articles/article.asp?p=1661080&seqNum=4

Normal painting on a layer, right? Well, I make my strokes on the layer panel, but they do not show up on my composition viewer.

What is really funky is that for a portion of my sequence, I AM able to paint and see the changes, but other times I can't.

I've included an image of my set up. screenshot2014-10-27at1.51.48pm.png

Any help/guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

Paint strokes are applied over time ranges, defined by the Duration setting in the Paint panel.

Select the layer you painted on the comp's timeline and press "PP" -- this will reveal your paint strokes over time, kind of like mini-layers. You can shift them in time or extend their end points just like regular Ae layers.
