After Effects CS6 CC Particle World

Hey,

I have to make an animation where many shapes with the same properties move across the screen in a straight line (with same spacing in between).

I was wondering if instead of animating each shape I could use CC Particle world. So far I have created particle system where same size particles move in a line, but I still struggle with having them moving in a straight line and more importantly - having same distance in between. Is that even possible and, if yes - I would appreciate the help.

Assuming you are using a shape layer, how about using a repeater [link]?

No, unfortunately it's not a shape layer, but a part of illustration.

This is probably easier to control with Dan Ebberts's "follow the leader" expression than with a particle system:
