Here is the footage I have to key:

There is green spill and no flags were used for lighting, is this the reason the are "squiggly" lines on the edges? I've keyed stuff before and not had this problem, so is anyone able to key this without the squiggly lines or is the footage too bad?

Any tips on getting better footage?

was your camera shooting in 4.2.0.?
we have this problem all the time when we use our studio cameras.
now days we use our 4.2.2 camera and we don't get the squiggly lines.
if you blow up the footage to 200% to where the green meets the cloth you will see all the junk there.

Shot on FS100, which should be 4.2.2

It's in a very small cyclorama, which has green reflecting on the sides. Nothing was used to block for spills, which is what I thought the problem might be.

But I'm not sure if that is the real reason or if it's just something I'm doing wrong in AE.

The background is on the hot side for Keylight's liking. If the brightest part of the subject is 100 IRE on a waveform monitor, the background should be a 65-75 IRE.

As a workaround for now -- because there's little spill on your subject in the example -- you can pull a key where the edges & core look great in Keylight's status view, and forget the noise on the subject that results. Then use the keyed layer as a track matte for a duplicated layer with no key.

Remove noise prior to keying. Set Keylight's View option to Intermediate Result. Then use Refine Matte's Reduce Chatter property.
