Let's say I want to use a text animator to make EVERY OTHER bigger.

Can this be done with the range selectors?

HA! Well, yes, you can do it "manually" with a separate selector for each character.
But I was hoping for a more 'automatic' way that would handle any length of text.
Kinda like a "square wave" selector...
I guess I could just create 50 selectors ... maybe with an expression to "add 2" to the offset from the one above ... just gets kinda messy.

The original post did not mention 'automatic'. It took me less than a minute to do manually.

I imagine a script could be written to automate the process, or it can be set up once and saved as an animation preset.

you can add an expression selector to the animator (from the add menu to the right of the animator) and use an expression like this:

textIndex%2 ? 100 : 0

if the 'based on' value is set to characters, every other character should be affected.

I can't really take full credit for this one.

I had come accross that expresson in the expressions forum some time ago and made a note of it as an example of how to manipulate the expression selector (which is someting I haven't had time to fully learn, but i'm getting better....)

I came across this while looking for something. Sorry to drudge up an old thread, but I just made a tutorial last week that contains how to do this.

The relevant bit is around 3:07. To switch whether it's alternating characters or lines just change the "Based On setting." You can download the file at the bottom of the post as well.
