Hi guys, i'm just getting into after effects, enjoying it so far.

I want to use the beam effect to trace some text. I thought maybe i could use the "create mask from text" feature and then tell the beam feature to trace the masks. is that possible? or is there a better way to trace text? thanks.

That is definitely what I would recommend over the Beam effect.
