So, I am using a PC and it's been having some BSOD issues for the past couple months. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the GPU or RAM due to it crashing mainly while rendering or adding effects, and only sometimes, in After Effects. I just signed up for Creative Cloud and was applying some effects in After Effects CC. Everything was fine until I tried to add the Gradient Ramp effect to a White Solid layer. The computer crashed with a BSOD. I figured, okay, well dang, and restarted it. Then, I opened my project and tried the same thing. Suddenly, it crashed.
So, now I'm thinking I finally have something specific to base my BSOD issues off of - a specific effect in After Effects CC. So, does anyone know if the GPU or Processor or RAM might be the instigator, or which might play the largest role in generating the gradient ramp effect?
