First question, long time creeper.

I was wondering if anyone has a tip, trick, script to the following:

Whenever I build a 3D scene in AE, I spend a copious amount of time scaling objects back to their intended sizes (with less-than-accurate results) after moving them in Z space.

For example, I'm currently putting a "flat design" landscape together and would like to move the camera around to create a parallaxing effect WITHOUT changing the sizes of the buildings.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Check out Paul Tuersley's pt_Multiplane script [link] for making this super-easy.

Alternately, apply this expression to the scale property of a 3D object to lock it to its original size at the camera's PoI:
cameraZoom = thisComp.activeCamera.cameraOption.zoom;
value * ((transform.position[2] + cameraZoom)/cameraZoom);

That pt_Multiplane script is exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks, Walter!
