Let's avoid a rash of profoundly dumb questions like, "I updated my OS to Yosemite and now AE doesn't work, how come?"........ shall we?

Yosemite just came out. Adobe hasn't had a chance to check out the way AE works with Yosemite. They'll check out how a few AE versions work with it. That's a bit time-consuming. Some versions may be fine, but some may not. The people at Adobe DON'T KNOW YET.

Unless you're one of those unthinking, no-regard-for-the-consequences, gotta-have-the-newest-thing, OS-updating robots who can't help but pull the trigger on an OS update, why don't you show some dull flicker of intelligence for a change? Hold off until Adobe gets a whack at Yosemite, and they report back.

But hey, maybe you like playing fast 'n loose with your current AE projects.
Maybe you just like experimentation.
Maybe you're a beta tester.
Maybe you like rolling the dice and having them come up snake-eyes.
Maybe you don't care if AE works or not.
If that's the case, knock yourself out. Go ahead and update.

Just know that if you come here crying and moaning that something in AE no longer works, I will relish heaping long, drawn-out phrases of ridicule on you for your lack of foresight. Oh, I'll really lay it on thick. And in a perverse sort of way, I can't wait for the first dummy.

You've been warned.

OOOOOOOooooh! Now *I* can't wait for the first dummy! (They've already popped up on the Adobe forums.)

Yeah, I intend to have some F-U-N, fun!

I saw that first post on the Adobe forum, too: not a lament, but a report from the bleeding edge. I hope the guy has fun checking it out for himself.

Yeah, Dave. It's strange that this advice has to be provided at all. Common sense should prevail, one might think (if one thinks, that is).

I also don't change the oil in my car while I'm driving it.

The OP in the Adobe thread was fine, but some of the responders...not so much.

"Adobe fix soon pls"

Um. They will. Chill.
Today is their first day with it too.
The operating system isn't due to be released until the autumn. THE AUTUMN!

Yes, we'll be testing with this new OS now that we have access to it, and we'll see what has been broken that we need to fix.

See this page:

Please direct people there if you see them having issues with After Effects and Yosemite.

It looks to me like you didn't wait ;)

Can't believe people are upgrading already. I'm still too nervous to upgrade to Mavericks.

First I heard of Yosemite was someone on the Avid forum asking if Media Composer.... make up the rest for yourselves.
(Wanted Mac to stop with the animal names, but now I miss them!)

Amen Dave.

The Yosemite "public beta" is what just came out. Best to wait and see how it goes even after the actual release is available (I would imagine Sept. or Oct.) I wouldn't touch it until reading what Adobe and other users say about it concerning After Effects.
