Camera on a wide orbit

Im making a big room in 3d space in AE, but one thing that is annoying me is that when I orbit the camera it rotates around the whole room and goes outside of the walls. When I orbit it I want the camera to stay in place and just rotate, like if you were standing in a room and just turning in a circle.
Sounds as if you're using a Target Camera - try using a Free Camera. There are also several ways to make Max's cameras more friendly using nulls to rig them, but the Free Camera will do the trick for what you described.
