Audio Off When Importing GoPro Footage
on Feb 7, 2014 at 4:13:26 am

I'm getting sound playing twice as fast as the video in my GoPro footage. I am a complete video noob (hopefully not for long) so any help would be really appreciated! Here is what happens:

1. Shooting GoPro video at 720/60fps
2. Copy raw video files to computer
3. Import raw video into GoPro Cineform Studio
4. Apply these settings to video clip:
Frame size: Source (1280x720)
Frame rate: Source (59.94fps)
Video to timelapse: unchecked
File format: MOV
Quality: high
5. Click "convert" and wait until footage is transcribed
6. Import transcribed footage into After Effects CS5
At this point AE gives me a message, "The item has an unlabeled alpha channel" and gives me options.
7. Choose any option, footage is imported, add to a new composition with 720/59.94fps settings
8. Upon looking at the audio waveform, the sound has been compressed to fit in exactly half the duration of the video. Audio skips during preview.

Any ideas? I've tried everything I can think of and researched this and found no solutions.

"MOV" just means it's a QT movie. It doesn't indicate the CODEC. What is it? Highlight the. the clip in. AE'S project pane and look at the clip info at the top.

Dave, if I'm reading the right info the codec is "Cineform Intermediate". Thanks for your reply.

If you have a nice editing application, you might use it to ingest the footage.

Or you might check how you originally imported the audio: it could still be compressed, which isn't a good thing in AE.
