Newton 2 Question: How to work with .PNG files?
on Jan 17, 2014 at 12:25:06 am

If Newton just can't do this, fair enough....

What I'm trying to do is use .Png files I made in Illustrator as the rigid body. When I do this, however, Newton can't seem to see the artwork..it shows white squares in place of it. Then..when the simulation starts, any .png I'm using ignores gravity or else just flies upward.

I've tried using standard masks first to get the keyframes I need and then pasting them onto my .PNGs, but that doesn't seem to work.

Please let me know if I'm not being clear.

Thanks!

~Tommy

Use a Shape Layer or a Masked Solid as proxies. Then either link the Newton results to the PNG or apply a copy-paste routine. Hmmm, then again, you probably knew that.

Thanks Roland!

Can you tell me how to link the results to the PNG? I tried copy and paste of keyframes but that didn't work.

It's really appreciated.

Hmmmm ... it's a basic copy-paste of keyframes. What exactly are you having issues with? Which part of the copy-paste process is not working? Or is it a case of the result not working as expected.

FWIW, the proxy that you use should have transform attributes that are identical to the PNG. You use the proxy in Newton. Once you've applied the results in Newton, you copy the transform attributes of the proxy onto your PNG file.
