I am doing a short film where there is a helicopter in a scene moving. If I am building my scene in cinema 4D, and rendering it in After Effects, how can I make the keyframes i do in cinema 4d appear in After Effects.

Right now it just shows my current frame in after effects even though i set it to "all frames".

Thank you.

Are you using CINEWARE with Ae CC to read the C4D file directly, or are you rendering images or a movie in C4D and importing those files into Ae?

The Footage panel should will show you a single-frame preview image. If you drag the C4D footage item from the project panel into a comp, you should see the CINEWARE-rendered frames in the Composition viewer.

If you are not, I'd suggest first that you check your firewall settings an make sure that the C4D background renderer is not being blocked, as CINEWARE uses TCP to communicate between C4D and Ae.

What if you re-import the C4D file into Ae and try again? Or try a completely different C4D file?

Actually, looking at the description again, I'm not sure I understand your problem. Are we talking about rendered frames, or are we talking about keyframes?

You will not see keyframes unless you add external compositing tags to planes or nulls in C4D, and then hit the Extract button in CINEWARE in Ae.

Oh okay then i'll try again.

I have my base video in a new comp. I go to File>Export> Maxon Exporter. I then save it to my desktop and open it up in Cinema 4D. I would then grab a model (for my explanation i will use a cube) and then i keyframe it so it moves. So now i have a cube that moves from point A-B in 100 frames. I then press save and go back to the adobe AE CC comp and check it, but the cube is always in only one spot, even if i press play. It doesnt do its own animation. This is my problem.

Using the exporter does not insert the resulting C4D file into the After Effects project. Are you importing the file? Are you sure you're importing the right file?

You are a genius! Thanks a ton. You are right, the "export" button doesnt update the image, but that is because i was using a 3D camera tracker for a tripod shot.

Thanks again!
