Hello

Is it possible to create a 6 hours countdown with After Effects?
In the composition settings it is only possible for 3 hours.
Thanks for your answers.

Make 2 and stitch them together in Premiere.

But when I make the countdown, it counts only from 3h to 0. So when I make two of them, I just have two times a 3h countdown. How can I create a countdown that counts from 6h to 0?

Why can't you set your first countdown to start at 6 hours, how have you set it up?

I tryed to make it with "timecode" and "numbers", but with both of these options, it makes a countdown that last for the length of the composition.
Could you please explain, how you would do it? It would be very nice! :)

And sorry for my english, I am from switzerland. :)

For countdowns I would use expressions, they work a lot better. First create a new composition that is 3 hours long. Press "Cntl_alt+shif+T" to make a new text layer, twirl open the "Source Text" and "alt + click" the stop watch then copy/paste this expression(courtesy of Dan Ebberts) to count from 6 hours to 3 hours and 1 second.

rate = -1;
clockStart = 21600;

function padZero(n){
if (n < 10) return "0" + n else return "" + n
}

clockTime = Math.max(clockStart + rate*(time - inPoint),0);

t = Math.ceil(clockTime);
hr = Math.floor(t/3600);
min = Math.floor((t%3600)/60);
sec = Math.floor(t%60);
padZero(hr) + ":" + padZero(min) + ":" + padZero(sec)

This expression will get you from 3 hours to 1 second.

rate = -1;
clockStart = 10800;

function padZero(n){
if (n < 10) return "0" + n else return "" + n
}

clockTime = Math.max(clockStart + rate*(time - inPoint),0);

t = Math.ceil(clockTime);
hr = Math.floor(t/3600);
min = Math.floor((t%3600)/60);
sec = Math.floor(t%60);
padZero(hr) + ":" + padZero(min) + ":" + padZero(sec)

You might have to make up a still image with a time 00:00:00.

You should be able to take both .aep projects and dynamically link them into premiere, put them in the same timeline and stitch them together. Just in case you are confused, here's a project with both countdowns. 6855_countdown.aep.zip
