We need to know more: are you delivering 1080 or 720? Actually, knowing the full list of delivery specifications is helpful.

There is no single best way to do this.

Okay then. Based on what you've told us.....

...open the 23.976 -- IT SHOULD NOT BE 23.98, IT SHOULD BE 23.976 -- comp and add it to the AE Render Queue.

In the Render Settings, select the "Add 3:2 Pulldown" option, and for field order, select Lower Field First. Rencder in the media container and codec of your choice.

It doesn't look right? One of two conditions are true: you didn't give us all the information to give you the proper advice -- such as this being an HD comp -- or you're new to After Effects.

Oh. Use Adobe Media Encoder to do this, and not AE.

OK thanks, so the original is in 2.5 K in AE project file...

so you mean just render out as a Quicktime Mov with sound at full size and then put it in media encoder to convert?

I presume it's 16x9, right? So how do you propose to handle the issue of one comp being 16x9, and the other comp being 4x3?

If you have a plan for that, good for you!

Yes, letterbox will show... I know...

Just want the best possible convertion..

I think I will make a precomp at 720 by 480, and scale down the 2.5k into this resulting wth the letterbox...

So now I have my 720 by 480... this then will go into your suggested MEDIA ENCODER...
