I downloaded this free AE (see:http://fantazo.com/project/free-ae-project/) template for a tight deadline intro video to a presentation for our company. I understand the basics of AE, but I am no expert.

The template has 4 titles with simple animation effects. Problem is that I need 6 of these... Problem is that when I copy/paste the text and accompanying animation effect from the timeline and change the text, it changes the text in the ORIGINAL instance in the timeline. Evidently there is some linking going on, but I am at a loss. Help? Please?

Any insight much appreciated.

Attached are a couple screens.

I assume you are copying the "Edit Text 0#" by duplicating it in the timeline. that just makes a copy of your original, not another instance of it. You need to duplicate it in the project window(the first duplicate should rename itself 05) and drag that into the timeline. Step into that precomp and edit the text.

If there are precomps within precomps, then this script will come in real handy: True Comp Duplicator Compatibility After Effects
