I'm at my wits end with a seeming bug in After Effects. When I drag items in the project window (either to the timeline, a comp button or just within the window - i.e. to a folder) the whole application locks up.
Force Quitting and restarting gets me back in but it's a waste of time and if I've forgotten to save then I lose work. Dragging's so ingrained I often do it without thinking and there are some things I don't know how to do without it (like putting items into folders)
One clue - the save dialogue seems to pop up briefly as it happens.
After Effects 22.214.171.124
Late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD system drive and media and caches on an external Thunderbolt drive. (I saw the same bug before I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro too)
I've filed a bug report but any pointers most welcome!
I'd suggest you reset your preferences. Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) while the application is starting.
