Displaying Clip Length in Timeline?
on Sep 9, 2013 at 12:22:09 pm

Hello,

is there a way to display clip length in the timeline?
I.e. written lenght on the clip.
This would be very helpful for trimming the timing of clips.

thank you

You have the option to right click on the timeline (where it says "Layer name") and go to columns -> duration.

It displays current lenght in the timeline...to always display full lenght I'm not sure you can (within the timeline).

Thank you Cassius,

this is helpful. Very small numbers. I think i´ll need a 30" screen :)

Is there a way to extend multiple selected clips in layers to the same time?
i.e. the clips has differnt lengths and i want them all the same length?

Multi-select the layers you want to extend (select one, Ctrl/Command click the others, or select the first and shift-click the last), then press Alt+] (PC) or Opt+] (Mac) to extend the out points to the location of the current time indicator.

Thank you Walter,

but this doesnt make the clips in equal duration.
The clips has different lengths.

Then you'll want to trim them all to the shortest clip's duration, won't you?

If you want to lengthen some clips there are other matters to consider. You can't simple change duration. You have to either speed up or slow down each clip by some amount. And thats seldom the desired expected result.

I want to trim clips with different lengths to same specified length.
So the in and out point has to be adjusted.
Best is if one can choose if only out point shoud be adjusted.
I think this is only possibel with script/expression?

I just wrote a quick and dirty script to set the duration of all selected layers to a specified number of frames by adjusting their out points:
