I'm having an issue with animating mask vertices. I tend to animate masks in transitions and while doing so click and drag the vertices to move an entire side of the mask at once. Most of the time it works fine but about a quarter of the time instead of dragging the entire line it adjusts the bezier curves of the two endpoints and pulls the line into a curve. Is there a setting that I'm missing that will prevent this from happening? There doesn't seem to be a real rhyme or reason to when it decides to do this.
It's more annoyance than anything but its much simpler to drag a line than to shift+select each point and move them that way.

You can lasso the vertices in question, then use the cursor up-down-left-right keys. Works great: just like they work when you use them to change a layer's position... but only on the mask vertices you chose.
