I have a project that I can scan through / RAM preview fine in AE, but the moment I attempt to render on export it I get regular flashing black frames. I have tried to both render & export to various file formats. The frames are slightly faster or roughly around 1 per second.

The source video is 1920x1080 / 29.97fps / H264

Comp settings:
HDTV 1080 29.97
1920x1080
Pixel aspect ratio: Square pixels
29.97fps

I'm working in CS4. Any more info needed let me know, I'm facing a deadline and tearing out my hair!
Not particularly experienced in AE, so any and all help grrreaaatly appreciated...

H.264 and AE CS4 don't mix. Transcode that footage to an intraframe codec like ProRes, DNxHD, Animation, PhotoJPEG, PNG or Uncompressed outside of Ae, then replace the footage in Ae with your new media.
