AE CS6 and proxy problem
on May 19, 2013 at 12:59:40 pm

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum so I'm saying hello once again :)
I have a problem with proxy in After Effects CS6 11.02
I'm working on 2K resolution 2048x1080 and the pixel aspect ratio is square pixel.
For example, on this project I have one sequence in 2K resolution and I made a proxy settings:
quality: Draft
resolution: Quarter
format: h264
target bitrate: 5Mbps
maximum bitrate: 5Mbps

I made a ram preview speed test.

With Proxy and without it I receive the same results.
Why the proxy doesn't work faster on the ram preview?

I have 32gb ram, ssd disk, i7-3770K

Thanks in advance.

If using a proxy for a specific footage item isn't speeding things up, then using the original wasn't a performance bottleneck in the first place.

Thx Todd for Your answer. This footage is a dpx sequenece with 58 frames (composition is in 32 bits).

I found a solution. I made a precompose with this dpx sequence. And the pre render time with proxy now is very fast 3 seconds / without proxy 28 seconds. Dpx footage (not precompose) have a colorista plugin.

A this moment I'm seeing that when I add adjustment layer (to composition with this precompose) with any plugin the ram preview time with proxy and without is the same. What is happening now?

If I want to see a speed proxy effect do I precompose the all single layers like adjustment layer?
