david vandeveldeAnimating layers differently with 2 cameras

Hi,
I've got a composition with a dozen layers, on top of the layers, I've added a camera to animate the scene, however I would like to animate the background layer differently to simulate a kind of parallax effect, the problem is that the top camera layer animates the whole scene. I don't know how to exclude the animation from this background layer or apply a second camera to only animate this one...

Thanks in advance for your help!

David

If you push your background back in Z-space (and scale it up to fit the frame again if necessary), you will get parallax for free from the single camera.

Yes that's a great trick but my camera is rotated around in the Y axis and I would like this background layer not being rotated as the rest of the layers...

You can't have two cameras rendering simultaneously in the same comp. A few other options:

Make the background 2D and animate its transforms.

Keep the background 3D (if you want DoF, for example), parent it to the camera, animate its transforms.

Precompose the background, add a separate camera in the precomp and animate there, leave collapse transformations off for the precomp layer.
