I built this animation in c4d and then did some work in after effects and then rendered my clip out. In after effects my clip looks like it should and when played with windows media player it looks fine too. then I play it in quicktime and blechhh. looks faded and bad any thoughts?

This is not the Quicktime Gamma Bug. The gamma bug manifests itself as an actual change in brighness that you would see against the original in, say, After Effects once you re-imported the render.

This issue is just because Quicktime is just a crappy video player and doesn't display color accurately. No two ways about it. I usually tell clients to download and preview files in VLC (plays slightly darker but nowhere near as off as Quicktime).

Things are better with QuickTime in OSX. One issue with VLC is that it isn't color managed so especially on wide gamut screens colors will look very funky there.
