time-remapping of multiple position values
on Apr 17, 2013 at 11:15:08 am

hi there, im actually involved in a project where i need to build up a camera-rig along a path on a map.
i´ve made so far two nulls (rig an POI), converted the maskpath in position keyframes for the two nulls and it works pretty well. the POI has the same path as the dolly, but with one second offset ahead.

but now, i need to time-remap the whole dolly shot for more dynamics in speed.
so if i try to change the position keyframes for time-remapping the two nulls seperately,
it ends in an frustrating try and error finding the right dynamics in speed.
sometimes, the dolly gets faster than the rig etc.
is there a way to time-remap the two position controls with one slider? or some other way to speed up an slow down the whole rig without losing the relation between the keyframes?
i´ve googled a lot but couldnt find anything that suits in my case.
i would appreciate every small hint or link.

thank you for your courtesy
greetings from germany
david

This is not time-remapping [link]. Footage and comps can be time-remapped; keyframes cannot.

The most straight-forward way to do this to select all the keyframes you want to adjust, then hold Alt as you drag the first or last keyframe forwards or backwards. All selected keyframes will adjust to maintain their relationships.

If I understand you correctly, I would suggest precomposing everything and then Time Remapping the Precomp. This will allow you to set keyframes where you want to adjust the speed and move them around to get the desired effect.

thank you guys, actually i´ve wanted a speedslider for the dollyshot.
i dont want to change the animation speed of my other assets in the comb, only for the cameramovement.
so how could i precompose the rig without changing anything else?

It's hard to say not knowing how your camera rig is built. If you do not want to use Time Remap on the precomposited scene, I have a hard time to see how that could be created by controlling one slider. I would use a series of Nulls that control the camera (not quite a camera rig) and split the move in segments. I describe this method in this thread:
