Hi,

In my main comp I have set a couple of markers for synchronizing.

When I go into a sub-comp I do not get to see these markers anymore:-(
That is not a big problem as long as main and sub comps have the same fps-rate and start at “total zero”; it only requires a little bit of calculating…

But – when the sub comps start at some time other than “total zero” it is getting quite confusing…

Any advice by the pros on how to handle this?

Thanks a lot!

Christian

Let's assume you have a comp named PRECOMP nested within a comp named MAIN_COMP.

First, in PRECOMP, make sure your markers are comp markers, not layer markers.

Next, in MAIN_COMP, right-click any of the layer markers on the PRECOMP layer and choose "Update Markers from this Source (replaces all markers)." If you have no layer markers to right-click, temporarily add one to the PRECOMP layer; after you right-click it and replace markers, it will remove itself.

Hi Walter,

Thanks for your fast reply.

However my problem seems to be exactly the other way around - I want to have main-comp markers visible in the sub-comps when I have to work within those.

Any ideas?

Thanx!

Christian

If Preferences > General > Synchronize Time of All Related Items is checked, you should be able to move to the time you want in the main comp, then click over to the precomp -- the CTI will be at the same time.

Another option might be to duplicate your main comp, delete everything within the duplicate but preserve the comp markers, then drop it into the precomp.

Hi Walter,

yes, you're right about the CTI. Still I would have liked to get like an overview of the main comp whenever I'm in a subcomp.
Especially when you have several subcomp at the same time you have to jump into each one and set a marker... well, I guess that's just how it is...

Thanks!

Christian
