After Effects CS5 GPU
on Mar 20, 2013 at 5:50:07 pm

Hi everyone.

I have come across an error which says

after effects error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in "Element"

and have heard that disabling the GPU might solve this but I am not sure how to do this. I have tried looking in After Effects under Preferences>Previews but I can't find the "GPU Information" button. Is this due to my graphics card not supporting this feature or is it because I am running After Effects CS5 rather than CS6? Below are more details on the graphics/display for this Mac.

NVIDIA GeForce 320M:

Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 320M
Type: GPU
Bus: PCI
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
ROM Revision: 3546
Displays:
Display Connector:
Status: No Display Connected
W2253:
Resolution: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes
Rotation: Supported

Any help would be greatful.

Thank you for your time and help in advance.

The reference is to turning off the GPU acceleration within Element 3D.
