Guideline for importing a 29.97 FPS footage to a 30 FPS composition

I have a sequence rendered at 29.97 that I want to import to a 30 FPS compostion which will finally be rendered at 30 FPS.

the imported 29.97 sequence has some motion graphics with perfect visual/audio synchronization, how can I import it to the new 30 FPS composition without having "out of synch audio issues"?

*the imported uncompressed sequence lasts 16 seconds and will be played at the start of the new composition.

What is the precise reason why you think you need 30 fps?

Details are good. Don't fogetto include them.

The reason for this: usually 29.97 is just fine, and 30fps could actually mess thingsup.

30 FPS is needed because the movie has to be submitted to a competition that requires so.

When impprting the footage use the interperate footage dialog and just have ae see the footage as 30fps. Over 16 seconds it wont really drop that many frames anyway so you will never notice. My answer assumes that your footage is true 29.97 and not 24 with 3:2 pulldown added.

yes its true 29.97, after.
@ 29.97 fps: After 16 seconds it would have played 479.52 frames
@ 30 fps: After 16 seconds it would have played 480 frames
So the difference would be half a frame in worst cases, right?

But shouldn't the audio always be in synch with the video of the imported movie since they belong to the same file and thus the sound is "baked" to the images, so if stretched in a new composition they will stretch together? doesn't the new composition's fps become irrelevant when it comes to the video/audio synch of the imported file?

And what's the use of choosing "conform to frame rate 30 fps" in the interpret footage options ? how does it help in keeping video/audio synchwhen AE gives a warning saying: "Audio may not be synchronised"?

Okay, if you're absolutely sure about that 30fps figure, fine.

I still have my doubts, so I'd play it safe: I would complete every single last bit of work on this project at 29.97, and make a 29.97 file. I'd then duplicate the file and conform it to 30fps.

That way, your petite pink posterior is covered should the organization say, "Oops! We really meant 29.97 and not 30."

I'll try the "conform to 30 fps" hoping its not causing any audio asynch for the imported 29.97.
