Hey guys!

So I'm doing some vector based animation for a client and there's a circle logo that I'm recreating with a solid and the Generate: Stroke effect. The animation's all fine, but when I set a camera into the composition (or another one for that matter) when I try to start the camera close on the stroke and dolly out, or just scaling it, the stroke thins out and loses form.

It's a 1080comp, and I'm trying to keep it vectorized. Any suggestions? I've also tried the trapcode 3D Stroke filter and as lovely as it is it doesn't seem to be helping.

Spencer

This is because Continuously Rasterize is enabled. This will change the Render order of AE.

There's something else to consider, too: you may be using a vector path, but you're using it in a bitmapped environment.

You assigned certain horizontal & vertical dimensions to your solid: it's bitmapped.
You're using the Stroke effect. It's definitely not a vector effect -- there aren't any in AE -- and so it's bitmapped.

If you get the camera close to this layer, you'll see aliasing, plain & simple. To avoid this, you have to make your layer a LOT bigger and scale it down. Then you stand a fighting change to avoid aliasing.

I ended up using the 3D stroke from Trapcode which allowed me to create a stroke thick enough to fit on a 5k x 5k composition that I shrank down in the main comp. Worked like a dream.

The key is though that if you collapse said composition, it won't work. Every other comp except for that one is set to rasterize continuously.

Thanks for everyone's help!!!!
