How do I make a spirit?

I have a model in C4D that was hollowed out with Thrausi and then the original model is inside. I want to create the idea of a burnt shell where the spirit of what is left is pulled out and into the heavens. Does anyone know how I could do this with After Efects? Please, time is crucial.
You could try using a exported obj with Trapcode Form 2.04 to create a ghost coming out of the body. Since it allows for animated obj sequences as well, you can animate the 3d models and have one shape "come out" of the other. Add glows, work at 32bit and mess around with the particles to get a flowing look.
