Daniel LapWorkflow: JavaScript => (Illustrator) => After Effects

I have coded a JavaScript data visualization that outputs SVG elements that are animated - in the browser - based on their data attributes. I would now like to produce a video (with a little bit of 3D and motion blur) of a set of these animations using After Effects.

1. 200 (vector) circles on a straight line.
2. Camera pans across these.
3. Circles are animated (color, radius, x and y of the circles) while camera moves

I'd preferably reuse the code for the animations but I am not sure how to go about.

Are any of these workflows applicable? And in that case, which one is better?

1. "Illustrator layers to keyframes"

I paste the SVG elements generated in the browser into Illustrator and then into AE.
Then I paste the same set of layers on another keyframe and somehow AE can figure out the tween ...

2. "JavaScript in After Effects"

I use the code to somehow script the animation in After Effects ... (Can I use external JS libs when scripting AE?)

3. "A much better alternative ..."
