Applying Time remapping to a pre comp with Shatter effect

Hi guys!

I'm using a glass texture(got it from Video Copilot) and it is already a comp (has a lot of layers). Then a pre composed it and apply the Shatter Effect. till here, everything is perfect.

But, I need to make this shattering in really slow motion. For this I've tried to use ''time remapping''(I saw a tutorial from Video Copilot also, called 'speed variation') but apparently it's not working at all, the shatter does not chance the speed.

I also tried to use timewarp FX, but it's really confusing.

The look I'm trying to do is pretty much like the speed variation(slow motion) from this video:

Thanks in advanced!

How are you applying the time remapping? You should precompose all again and enable time remap on that precomp layer.

Yes, I did a pre comp of all the layers composing the glass texture, then applied the shatter and then I enable time remap for this pre comp, but still not working.

I've tried to apply the shatter on this pre comp, then pre compose again and enable time remap on this third comp, but still, not working.

I suggest experimenting with the controls in Shatter. If you're trying to use it intuitively, I recommend that you look up the effect in AE's Online Help; it describes how the controls work.

I think you can accomplish what you want WITHOUT Time Remapping.

I have done time remmapnig of shatter effect many times without any problem.
A screen shot of shatter effect parameters(effects panel) and timeline would help to solve the issue.

Hi Vishesh,

so, this is a screen shot of my project, with the effect panel open and the time remap enable.

every time that I try to stretch the middle two keyframes of time remap, it does not occur anything, the shattering still is in the same velocitythat it was before.

am I doing something wrong, like not using time remap properly?

You didn't look at the Shatter section in AE's Online Help, did you?

Otherwise you you would have learned about animating forces, adjusting viscosity and modifying gravity. To create the look you seek, you may also have wanted to create a custom shatter map.

You also would have found links to video tutorials on using Shatter.

I did read the whole Shatter section in AE's Online Help, but still it didn't help me a lot.

And I thought using time remap because it is a little bit simpler, even if I could do what you're saying, it would time a long time to key frame all the action, right?

I figured out your problem. You still have the Shatter Effect applied on the Comp and not on the Layer which is inside the comp.

The problem is while Precomposing,
Choose "Move all attributes into the New Composition" option instead of Leave all attributes to Comp 1.

Then Enable Time-Remap of the new comp.

See the example:

Time-Remap will not work if you enable it for the Layer on which Shatter Effect is Applied.
