Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of doing the very common thing of creating time lapses from SLR image sequences in After Effects CS5. I've imported my image sequences from folders of JPEGS. I properly select the first image in the folder and check the box that says JPEG SEQUENCE, as well as the one for SEQUENTIAL ORDER. I cut them into a 1920x1080 comp, re-frame to HD size, and then render out. I've done quite a few of these with no problems, but for this one particular camera I keep running into issues.

I get this error:

After Effects error: Photoshop file format error - unexpected end-of-file (-39). (45 :: 36)

At first I thought it was a symptom of having a few corrupt images in the sequence, which turned out to be the case. I sifted through the folders and found a handful of bad eggs -- images with bogus tiny file sizes and mostly grey frames. But even with the sequences cleaned up I still get this. The problem is when I go to the section of my comp where the problem images exist there isn't just one -- it's many. And they exist over several minutes of the sequence. Really not sure where to go from here. Has anyone experienced this problem with this particular workflow?

Thanks,
JD

JD

It can be a problem of different color space like CNYK or Lab.

open the files in Photoshop and save them in RGB color space. It may solve the issue.

Hey,
i would do the same thing as Vishesh suggested.
Maybe it would help if you go into PhotoShop und do a batch export on all the images, then re-import them to AE.

Let us know it this was helpfull!
Thanks
;)

Thanks for the suggestions guys -- I will try doing the batch export from Photoshop to see if that has any success. I suppose keeping everything RGB would be the safest.

Try the trial version of After Effects CS6 and see if you still get the problem there.

If so, please submit a bug report here:

Be sure to give details about the camera that is creating these JPEG files, so that we can determine if it's the fact that the camera creates bad files.
